GENERAL 2010 ROMANA’S PILATES® CONFERENCE DETAILS — Start & End Times

For planning purposes — below please find some general details regarding the upcoming 3-day 2010 Conference (July 9, 10, & 11, 2010):

DAY 1 — Friday, July 9, 2010

We anticipate Private Session times to be available both in the morning on Friday (8 am until 12 Noon) when the Conference starts and at the end of the day (5 pm).  We have not yet finalized or announced the opportunity to schedule Private Sessions; however, when all is set we will communicate same via the Pure Pilates Blog.  So stay tuned for more information in the future re: how to schedule and pay for same.

DAY 2 — Saturday, July 10, 2010

Full Conference Day with Private Session times available in the morning (7 am) and at the end of the day (5 pm) the informative & interactive Presentations by all the Grandmaster and Master Instructors.

Stay tuned for all the exciting details about the Saturday evening dinner celebration & dancing!

DAY 3 — Sunday, July 11, 2010

Private Sessions will again be available at 7 am.  We anticipate Sunday’s schedule to wrap up around 1 pm to respect everyone’s time to schedule & coordinate departures in the afternoon in order to get home to families and studios.

For those of you who cannot miss a day of the World Cup, we understand and have made special arrangements for a hospitality suite, conveniently located near the Conference  Presentation Rooms, with a large flat screen television dedicated to showing all the World Cup Soccer games for the 2010 Conference attendees.   For your information, 3 TV stations: ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC have combined to show all 64 matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and we will have TVs dedicated to the World Cup so you won’t miss any action while attending the 2010 Romana’s Pilates Conference.

It is well known that members of the United States Dressage Team rely on Pilates to improve their position in the saddle.  Riders found that Pilates, with it’s focus on core strength — which Joseph Pilates refers to as your “Powerhouse” (strengthening the abdominals, lower back, inner /outer thighs, hips, and buttocks) is crucial to good riding.  In fact, Dressage riders also rely on Pilates to help them with their balance, flexibility, and suppleness. 

Horses are a reflection of their riders and if a rider is controlled and balanced then a horse will produce controlled, balanced movements.  Horse trainers many times say that riders spend too much time conditioning their horses but not enough time conditioning themselves.  Riders can learn to isolate body movements in preparation for sitting in a saddle.   Pilates exercises like Leg Circles teach riders to move their legs without moving their torsos or hips.  Pilates training also helps riders build body awareness.  If a rider puts too much weight in the left hip, it unbalances the horse and sends a confusing message to the horse.  If a horse can feel a fly land on its back, imagine what a crooked body does!
